U.S.: New Labour Secretary, Hilda Solis

Former Congresswoman, Hilda Solis (D-CA) was sworn in Friday as secretary of labour by Vice President Joe Biden at a ceremony held by the Labor Department.

Biden said that Solis is the best choice for the job, claiming she has a solid grasp of the “fairness in workplaces and workplace safety” for Americans.

House and senate Republicans posed strong opposition to this nomination due to her associations with pro-labor group, American Rights for Work. Additionally her husband is reportedly in a number of tax troubles, having just made a payment for $6,000 in tax liens.

Some common Republicans went as far as saying “Solis is pro-illegal labor… not so much that of Americans’.”

Fairness in the workplace. I guess that means everyone gets the same pay, even it they don’t work. I can see how that inspires workers to do their best. That’s why communism and socialism work so well.
