Two Thirds See Bush’s Presidency as Failure

CNN/Opinion Research Corp. released details of a survey on none other than President Barack Obama’s Inauguration day. Summary? 68 per cent of Americans thought the country would’ve been better off without Bush.

Now, this isn’t a rare phenomenon - leaders inevitably get some level of credit for the events which occur during their leadership, particularly those on an economic level; and with a recession mounting (or, perhaps in full force) people, particularly those negatively effected, are going to blame Bush and the Republican administration for not solving the problem.

31 per cent considered Bush’s Presidency “a success,” according to the poll, while 50 per cent said that the U.S. would have been better off if Al Gore was elected in 2000. Twenty-seven per cent think things would be worse off if Gore won, and twenty-two said that it didn’t matter who won.

This makes 31 per cent Bush’s final approval rating, at least, according to the CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll.

“Due to the Florida recount, Bush had the misfortune of coming into office under controversial circumstances; A lot of Americans apparently remember those circumstances and now wish things had gone a little differently.” said Keating Holland, from CNN.

No shit, we would be better off not having a president period. If no laws are signed into effect it’s harder to raise taxes, create new government programs, etc.
