State of California Launches Stimulus Accountability Plan

Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger announced the launch of a website dedicated to ensuring transparency and accountability in federal economic stimulus funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The website — www.recovery.ca.gov — parallels that of the federal government’s accountability site, outlining up-to-date information about how and where federal tax money is spent. Additionally, the website will ensure that federal reporting requirements are met.

Thursday, state government administration attended a conference in D.C. regarding state-level federal stimulus provisions.

“As information becomes available, the website will also post the geographic distribution of expenditures through the use of digital mapping technology,” said Schwarzenegger’s statement.

Schwarzenegger said that his administration wants to ensure Californians return to work, and that every single dollar is spent in an accountable manner.

The website is expected to include information about available grants for individuals and businesses.

You can access the website online at www.recovery.ca.gov.
