A democratic aide told Reuters International Sunday, that Barack Obama’s economic stimulus plan may be funded by a cleaning up of fiscal waste, rather than increased taxes.
The aide cited amounts of about $310 billion dollars in tax cuts to businesses and middle class citizens - nearly half of the $775 billion U.S. which is proposed to be spent in the new stimulus package.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is said to be in support of the newly proposed tax relief program, which will be discussed on Monday with congressional leaders.
Furthermore, New Mexico governor and former candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, Bill Richardson, declared that he would be withdrawing from Obama’s lineup for Head of Commerce Department.
