The Manhattan-based court responsible for the Bernard Madoff case made public the official list of victims, compiled by the Dallas, Texas-based business advisory firm AlixPartners. The list is made up of those who responded to advertisements, rather than those who were necessarily directly involved in the $50 billion Ponzi scheme.
The list includes partners of the firm, Bernard Madoff Investment Securities, and those who may have contacted or been contacted by the business’ trustee. The Associated Press noted that some investors are listed multiple times within the list, “presumably because they had multiple accounts” with the scheme.
The list, which includes losers with billions of dollars of losses supersedes our previous list includes companies such as the Austrian Bank, Bank Medici with over $2 billion in exposure, Natixis SA, a French investment bank with more than $500 million in exposure and founder of Kay Windsor, Carl Shapiro with about $500 million himself.
This scheme has brought a range of attacks on the SEC for their inability to adequately deal with financial fraud and other issues, as well as alleged corruption associated with the number of reports towards Madoff’s agency in the last decade.
The entire list can be downloaded here, however, it is well over 150 pages in length, and 2mb in size.
