Doodles, Nukes and Ron Paul

“People can always be brought to do the bidding of their leaders… All you have to do is tell them they’re being attacked and denounce the pacifists for a lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in every country,” these were the words of Herman Goering, second in command of the Third Reich under Adolf Hitler.
The people of England in the last week have yet again proven the Nazi’s wrong. They are apparently working to counter act the gross civil rights abuses which their government, like so many others in the western world, has imposed since 9/11. This comes alongside Ron Paul, “the last principled man left in Washington” putting forward a transparency bill to the US Congress. Apparently at least one American wants to right the wrongs of endemic corruption in Washington instead of just talking about it.
Perhaps I’ve gotten ahead of myself since we can still rely on Captain America… I mean, President Obama to save the Republic. In his weekly address he has argued that the massive deficit his government is incurring with their new budget will fulfill campaign promises; including a shift towards a greener America, health care reform, education spending and defense of the American Dream.
But even more important than the righting of moral wrongs. A study has come out which claims that not only is doodling okay but it in fact should be encouraged. Apparently this relatively mindless task actually allows for enough focus for one to sit through hour long meetings on projected corporate growth. And although we all have faith in our companies, the last few months have proven that projected growth is a silly thing indeed.
To balance out all of the wonderful news, civil rights reclamation, a bright 21st century for America and the final acceptance of doodling, there is of course the bad news. HSBC has frozen trading on its stocks and has not released the reason why. Furthermore and I’m sure this is making all the end of the world nuts very happy, according to the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs, Iran has enough plutonium to create a nuclear warhead. Of course we may want to be skeptical of the United States’ intelligence, especially considering the two wars which NATO has since become embroiled in because of it.
